At Leicester Community Links CIC, we believe meaningful climate action starts locally—within our neighbourhoods, led by the people who live there. Over the past two years, we've been working hard to spark change, amplify local voices, and create welcoming spaces for learning, collaboration, and sustainable action.

2025 marked a milestone for us, with two exciting projects that laid strong foundations for a greener and more connected Leicester—and beyond.
Leicester’s First Community Climate Conference 🌿
In March, we were proud to host Leicester’s first-ever Community Climate Conference—a bold, grassroots-led event created by the community, for the community. Held at the Peepul Centre, the event brought together residents, local leaders, environmental experts, and change-makers for a powerful day of discussion, learning, and action.
Through hands-on workshops, expert panels, and lively conversations, we tackled pressing issues such as river pollution, waste and energy use, and how climate change disproportionately impacts marginalised communities. But more than just raising awareness, the conference was about solutions.
Attendees left inspired:“I learnt so much about pollution in our rivers.”“The workshops really opened my eyes—it made me think twice about waste and how to reuse or fix things instead of throwing them away.”
This was more than just a one-off event—it sparked a growing city-wide conversation. And we’re just getting started. Plans are now underway to take this model national, giving other communities across the UK the tools to do the same.
Looking Ahead: What’s Next? Our vision for 2025 and beyond is ambitious but grounded in community: scale up our impact, share our model across the country, and keep climate justice at the heart of everything we do. Change starts when people come together to listen, learn, and take action—and we’re proud to be leading that from the ground up.
