Our organization started this project in April 2021 to support people with their wellbeing and inform them about food growing for better health.
We worked with the Leicester City Council Food Plan initiative and The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) to deliver community gardening sessions. The sessions have made a positive and lasting impact with the communities we work with and were used by the council as a case study for a successful community gardening project.
We have over 15 volunteers who regularly attend the sessions and also deliver health talks to support those with health conditions. We have also worked with local schools in the Learning Through Landscapes project as well as supporting other community groups in the area to set up a community allotment. A summer house has been built on site and a polytunnel will be put up so that we can develop our food growing skills.
